Strike Action: Letter to parents
Dear Parent/Carer
I refer to my previous letter providing advance warning of the industrial action of teachers. This action is happening because of a dispute between unions and the government.
The proposed date of this strike action is Wednesday 1st February 2023.
School leaders and governors have taken all reasonable steps to keep school open and I can confirm that school will be open on Wednesday 1st February 2023. I have undertaken a risk assessment and can assure you that we have appropriate ratios of staff in school on that day. We have First Aiders, Fire Wardens and Safeguarding personnel in school.
Breakfast Club will run as normal but we are unable to offer after school clubs on that day. Please ensure you are able to collect your child at 3.30pm (3.00pm for Nursery pupils).
Please note that the school day will not run with a normal timetable of lessons. However pupils will access a variety of activities throughout the day which will be led and supervised by staff familiar to them.
Please note that parents have a legal duty to ensure that their child of compulsory school age attends school. Therefore, all school-registered children of compulsory school age in classes open on days when strike action is being taken are still required to attend school.’
For your information the remaining proposed strike days are:
Tuesday, 28th February 2023 – Regional action
Wednesday 15th AND Thursday 16th March 2023 – National action
If you have any questions please email the school office on office@newyorkprimaryschool.org
