Admissions to 2 year old provision

New York now offers 16 places for eligible two year olds to access fifteen hours of nursery provision in our 2 Year Old Provision.  The sessions take place from 8.30am until 11.30 am or 12.30pm to 3.30pm daily for 37 weeks of the year.

Your child will be welcomed into a home from home setting to enjoy a range of early years activities in the term following their second birthday,  The 2YO team help children settle into routines, socialise with others and become more independent, at the same time as receiving a great early start to education.

To find out if you meet the criteria for a free place please pop in to the office where you will be helped to fill in an application form or complete the online form here - https://my.northtyneside.gov.uk/category/496/childcare

Please note that a place in 2YO does not guarantee a place in the three year old nursery and admission to this must be applied for separately.

Admissions to Nursery

New York Primary School Nursery comprises of 52 place nursery (26 am and 26 pm). Admissions to the Nursery class are managed by the school office. Pupils are eligible to attend Nursery in the September after their 3rd Birthday. In order to be considered for a place, parents/carers must apply directly to the school. Please call into the school office or call the school on 0191 814 1788

We also offer 30 hour provision for eligible families please speak to the school office if you believe this applies to you. Please see the Childcare Choices website for further information

https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

When spaces allow we are sometimes able to offer places to children throughout the course of the year. The start date will be after the child’s 3rd birthday. A start date will be made as soon as possible after this date for children who are on our waiting list.

The school has a waiting list that parents/carers can register their children on in advance of admission, although it is stressed that putting a name on the waiting list does not guarantee the offer of  a place in school. When the school has received a completed Nursery Admission form, places will be allocated. Parents will be asked to confirm that they are accepting the place and will receive an invitation to a new starters meeting, where they will receive an admission pack, detailing start dates and other relevant information.

Please note that a place in the Nursery class does not guarantee a place in the Reception class.

Admissions to Reception

Prospective parents are invited to visit the school during the autumn term before the in-take year, to see the school in action. All Reception children are admitted during the first week of the autumn term in September.

Parents are informed of the admission arrangements in some detail during visits to the school in the summer term. There is an opportunity during this term for children to visit their new class and teacher and for parents to meet staff and children, view the school, find out about our philosophy and organisation and raise any questions.

Additional information can be found on the DfE website here
