Newsletter – Summer 2
Message from Mrs Shaw,
What a fantastic summer term it has been with so much to celebrate and so many memories made. I read and commented on all pupil reports with great pride, especially our Year 6 leavers with their last New York report.
Our statutory school results in Early Years, Phonics, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 are all above national figures and I would like to commend pupils and staff for their hard work in attaining these results.
We are dedicated not only to providing the best learning opportunities in the classroom but also wider learning experiences. The summer term has included Enterprise Days, STEM week and fair, Big Gig and Big Sing, Sports Days, Book Looks, French Day, Independence Day, Shiremoor Treat, Mouth of the Tyne, Wimbledon visit, Lego League, Beach Trips, Summer Festival and our Summer Fair.
Our competitive sport has excelled this year with girls and boys football teams having regular fixtures. We have also played competitive basketball and competed successfully in gymnastics and athletics competitions. As one groups leaves so another group starts school. We have welcomed parents of new starters in for Nursery and Reception meetings. Our Year 6 pupils have attended transitions for their high schools and have enjoyed preparing their leavers assembly and video. They have been wearing their leavers hoodies with pride ever since they were delivered! We are welcoming new staff to New York in September and saying farewell to some who are moving on.
As ever I need to thank the super, talented, dedicated and caring staff at New York for making all these things possible and consistently going over and above for New York pupils. Thank you to parents and families for supporting all that we do. It is a privilege for us to work with you and your children. Please enjoy a great summer holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back to school on Tuesday 5th September 2023. Mrs J Shaw
