Letter to Parents:8th September 2022
Dear Parent/Carer,
Back to School
How lovely it is to be back at school, returning to the familiar routines and love of learning. Staff are delighted to welcome their new classes and pupils have returned with positive attitudes and big smiles. I hope that you have managed to have a safe and enjoyable summer.
Over the summer holidays classrooms have been decorated, displays refreshed and new furniture purchased for some. School looks great and we look forward to welcoming parents into school over the term. From my previous letter you will be aware that we have welcomed new staff and some existing staff have moved year groups. It feels like a fresh and positive start!
School Times
Please remember the change of times for the school day with lessons starting at 9.00am meaning that your child needs to be sitting in class ready to learn at 9.00am. Gates will open at 8.50am to allow pupils to enter school, hang up their coats and bags and enter the classroom.
Our new end time is 3.30pm.
We are trialling letting Year 1 out of the single middle gate at the end of the day to avoid congestion with
Nursery and Year 2. We will continue to monitor how this goes. Nursery pupils who access 30 hour provision will continue to finish at their normal time of 3.00pm
School Uniform and PE Kit
Children have returned looking very smart in their school uniform. Please ensure that your child continues to wear the correct school uniform including black shoes. We ask that pupils bring their PE kit into school on a Monday and leave it in all week – ever ready!
After School Clubs
Breakfast Club started immediately on Tuesday this week. All children can access Breakfast Club which opens
at 8.00am with the last entry at 8.30am. There is a charge for this offer of £3.00 per week per family. This can be paid via the school office
After school clubs will commence on Monday 12th September (Y1-6) but will remain Key Stage specific. School staff run the majority of our clubs after school and we do not charge for clubs. We currently have a waiting list for certain clubs which are oversubscribed.
Lunches
We continue to provide lunches through our catering company Caterlink. If you pay for school dinners and have not set up a payment account please do so asap. Carrie in the office can provide the details for you to do this.
If your account is not in credit from last year, please ensure that you make the appropriate payment asap, as school are responsible for any unpaid lunches. We will be writing to parents this week to provide a reminder of what is required.
Communication
At New York we strive to communicate effectively and efficiently with parents and families. Please ensure that we have an up to date email account that your child’s teacher can use to communicate with you. Miss Hollywood has just sent out all the required communication information that you need. Please also remember the joy of following us on Twitter where you will receive messages from school but also have the pleasure of seeing what your child is busy learning during the weeks.
Parents will also receive the contact information document and permission forms for photographs so please look out for these and return them promptly. It is important that we have up to date contact details for families.
The website is a great way for parents to see what is going on in school and what is planned. It is an extensive source of information – please access the school website at newyorkprimaryschool.org
General
Hygiene protocols will remain in place, including regular hand sanitising, ventilation and extra cleaning around school.
Class teachers will be sending out their own ‘Welcome Back’ letters this week which will have additional details about class routines, homework etc. so please look out for those. We look forward to a really positive academic year serving and supporting our pupils, families and the community.
Regards
Mrs J Shaw
