Letter to Parents 11th May
Dear Parent/ Carer
I am sure, like me, you watched the Prime Minister Briefing last night, addressing the nation about the position going forward over the next few weeks. At New York Primary, We all want our pupils to return to school but we must be certain that it is safe to do so. Our priority remains to ensure the safety of all within the school community.
As yet we await instruction and guidance from the Government regarding any changes to pupils returning to school. We await further detailed information from the government before being able to provide you with accurate and up to date information and until such time there is no change to the current practice of key worker children accessing childcare places. At the moment we continue to remain open for childcare for children of key workers. Staff will continue to work on a rota of school and home to provide online learning and in-school activities to support our families and keep in touch. We also continue to provide daily packed lunches and vouchers for qualifying families.
As announced last night (10th May), depending upon how the virus progresses, schools may return, for Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils only, in June. This is not definite – it is planned but these plans may change.
As soon as I know more information I will of course pass it on to you. There are a lot of ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ which need to be monitored over the coming weeks before we have some definite information.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents, carers and pupils for the efforts to stay safe, respect social distancing and your positive response to the on-line learning that New York staff have provided. I would also like to thank New York staff for their dedication and determination over the last couple of months. These continue to be challenging times and we must all continue to follow government guidance to keep ourselves and others safe.
