Impact of the PE and Sport Premium Funding 2024–2025

How has your school’s spending improved PE attainment?

Between 2024 and 2026, our school successfully retained the Platinum Award for School Games, demonstrating our continued commitment to excellence in physical education, sport, and whole-school wellbeing. The profile of PE and sport remains high across all phases, with regular CPD and meaningful curriculum links to promote lifelong health and fitness. All pupils access a minimum of two hours of physical activity daily, with inclusion at the heart of delivery, those unable to participate physically are supported in alternative roles to promote ongoing development and progress.

Daily sports coaching before school and at lunchtimes has led to increased participation and improved punctuality, while the introduction of new equipment and a wider range of after-school clubs has enabled more pupils than ever to engage in diverse sporting opportunities, including fencing, handball, skipping, rugby, dance, and archery.

Our commitment to inclusion has been further recognised through our Inclusion Quality Mark Flagship Status (November 2025) and the Healthy School Award (September 2025). Competitive sport continues to thrive, with pupils representing the school in football, hockey, netball, rugby, gymnastics, and dance festivals, supported by PE Premium funding for transport and specialist coaching – an opportunity for school staff to enhance their own delivery. Dedicated sports leaders and the school council have played a key role in shaping activities, ensuring pupil voice drives participation.

Staff confidence and skill in PE delivery have improved significantly through targeted CPD, leadership release time, and new scheme and orienteering resources. Together, these initiatives have led to measurable improvements in physical literacy, engagement, and whole-school wellbeing. Our pupils develop not only as skilled participants but as motivated, healthy, and resilient learners.

How is your school going to ensure that the improvements made through its spending of the PE and sport premium are sustainable?

Building upon the successful model already established within school, we will continue to strengthen and refine our approach to PE and sport to ensure long-term impact and sustainability. The continued use of specialist sports coaches not only increases pupil engagement, physical literacy, and activity levels, particularly for targeted groups, but also upskills teaching staff through joint delivery, mentoring, and ongoing CPD. This ensures that high-quality PE teaching is maintained well beyond the life of the funding. By offering morning and after-school clubs, we have created lasting routines that promote improved punctuality, attendance, and behaviour, contributing to a positive whole-school culture around physical activity. In addition, we actively signpost pupils to local community sports clubs with whom we have established strong partnerships, helping children to extend their participation beyond school and develop lifelong habits of physical activity. These links are promoted through sharing leaflets, taster sessions led by local coaches, and regular communication with adults to encourage continued involvement outside of school. Our curriculum is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure progression and inclusivity, supported by robust assessment and monitoring systems.

Ongoing CPD for staff will continue to enhance confidence, knowledge, and consistency in PE delivery, with the PE lead providing targeted training and leading staff meetings focused on developing physical literacy and curriculum progression. We will ensure the PE curriculum remains inclusive, ambitious, and reflective of pupil needs and interests, with assessment protocols in place to track progress and inform future planning. Regular, termly reviews of extracurricular participation and competition data will guide provision, ensuring all pupils can access a wide range of sporting opportunities both in and beyond school. Strengthened collaboration with local schools will further enhance opportunities for shared learning, competitive fixtures, and community engagement.

Through this sustained, evidence-led approach, school is embedding a culture of participation, performance and enjoyment in sport and physical activity – creating a lasting legacy where every pupil can thrive physically, socially and emotionally.
